Since year 2020, WAEC fees assistance to eligible vulnerable students in Nigeria has become one of our major annual interventional project at Community Builders for Africa, (CBA).
The project was a recommendation of the business committee of CBA, following a needs assessment on the population we serve.
In their report, the committee had found that many high school students in our target communities could not afford the cost of their WAEC registration, due to chronic financial hardship of their parents. And this often lead to them either dropping out of school, or unable to proceed to higher education. The committee therefore recommended a WAEC funding plan as a scholarship award, to help pay the WAEC fee of some of these children.
With this intervention candidates who are considered vulnerable and eligible to benefit from the program are selected through the help of the school principal, from the local government of each member of CBA as beneficiaries of the sponsorship.
The organization will then pay the cost for WAEC registration for every child selected.
